Dansateliers, a laboratory for 15 years, has taken on a new shape.
In the workplace studios the main focus was on experiment, research and dialogue. Motivated to support talented dance makers further after they finish workplace research projects – Dansateliers will now also move towards the theatre. Supporting makers on the way to making complete productions, Dansateliers aims to produce remarkable works and to chose makers who can touch an audience.
first production in 2009
On October 28th, the performance Reality is shaped by recalling by the Israeli choreographer Liat Waysbort had its premiere. This is the first evening length performance supported by Dansateliers in the new production house.
Reality is shaped by recalling is a work for six characters, lively and full of memories, in a setting with traces of the past.
Liat Waysbort (Tel Aviv, 1974) lives and works in the Netherlands since 2000. After her masters study in choreography masters at Codarts in Rotterdam, Dansateliers offered her support for her further development. Among other works, she made the study Memory happens now (2006) and the performance Redreaming the work (2008). Her dance language is typified as warm, dynamic and subtly absurd.
ON November 20 and 21st the performance Reality is shaped by recalling will be performed in Frascati WG in Amsterdam.

Brand New, a co production with the Conny Janssen Danst company is the next initiative of Dansateliers as production house.
Brand New offers emerging choreographers an experience in working with the dancers of a company – a chance to practice their own signature and to open a dialogue with the choreographer and dancers of the company. With their very contrasting short works for Brand New, makers Hillary Blake Firestone, Mor Shani and Liat Waysbort put together a brand new program.
how are choreographers chosen for the production house?
Makers for the production house are selected and invited by Dansateliers.
Most of them have already worked in the work place before. Dansateliers believes in long lines of coaching and development and chooses consistently for investing in one artist for a longer period.
