ONE NIGHT’S DANCE 2010
We invite dance makers – whatever their style or approach to dance – to take part in the project and share their most specific ideas about dance with each other and with an audience !
One Night’s Dance 2010 focuses on making and showing new work, sharing feedback, getting to know each other.
From the applications, 15 makers will be selected. We invite you to sign up. To join us for a challenging and inspiring process.
How it works:
* One Night’s Dance starts on Nov. 1st
* During the first two weeks you participate together in a number of workshops, led by Lise Brenner.
* The workshops focus on giving and receiving feedback as well as on aspects of research and composition.
* Between Nov. 1st and Dec. 16th you can work out your ideas during 10 rehearsals in the Dansateliers studios.
* On December 17th, 18th or 19th you present your work to each other and to an audience in Theater Lantaren/Venster in Rotterdam.
What we offer you:
* Free participation in the workshops
* Free studio space: 10 rehearsals for each maker
* LIMITED budget for travel expenses during the rehearsal period
What we ask from you:
* Space in your agenda for the workshop dates – participation is required.
* All works are NEW and last a maximum of 10 minutes.
* Set, light and sound must be simple. Time for scene changes will be limited.

* What do you expect from the meeting and dialogue with other choreographers?

Dansateliers is the professional dance workplace for Rotterdam, where both beginning and experienced choreographers are offered opportunities to do research projects and develop a personal signature.
Dansateliers offers choreographers facilities and projects in various forms. Two-week start-projects are a chance for Dansateliers and new dance makers to get acquainted. In workplace-projects, generally lasting five weeks, there is more room for research and collaboration, both with dancers, other choreographers and artists from other disciplines. Which type of project is most suitable for the research at hand will be decided in dialogue between Dansateliers and the choreographer.
Funding, production and publicity for all projects is supported by Dansateliers, enabling choreographers to focus on their research and the development of their material. An artistic advisor is assigned to each project, providing feedback and artistic coaching.
All projects are rounded off with studio presentations. The presentations are open to the public and this way form an opportunity for the choreographer to participate in a dialogue with the audience.
From 2009 on, with the start of production house activities, Dansateliers will invite a small number of talented choreographers to follow longer and more intensive route supported by the organization. These partnerships include research both inside and outside the studio and development of productions as well.
Proposals for research project scan be submitted at any time. Dansateliers works without deadlines for these proposals. Please do take into account that projects are planned months in advance! A meeting between maker and the organization is generally part of the selection process.
